Carmela De Losinno

Melbourne – born soprano, Carmela De Losinno is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and Monash University.
Carmela was a member of Opera Australia from 1998- 2005 and has also studied and given concerts in both Germany and Italy.

She has performed operatic roles ranging from Santuzza (in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana ) , Suor Angelica (in Puccini’s Suor Angelica ), to Blanche (in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites), Nancy, (in Britten’s Albert Herring) and Mercedes, (in Carmen), among others. In 2008, Carmela played to critical acclaim the role of Anna Glawari in The Merry Widow for Babirra Theatre company and the role of Abigaille in the concert version of Verdi’s opera Nabucco with the A. C. Orchestra.

Carmela has also performed the lead role of Elvira in Verdi's opera 'Ernani' with Melbourne City Opera. She also understudied the role of Tosca with Melbourne Opera and the role of Liu from Puccini's opera Turandot with the Amadeus Chamber orchestra.

Carmela performs regularly in festivals, concerts and recitals around Australia and is in constant demand for corporate events.
