Firstly, I would like to thank you for allowing me the privilege of being a part of your vocal journey. My aim is to guide you to discover the wonderful treasure trove of possibilities that is your unique voice. As a performer and teacher of over 25 years’ experience, I have seen that a ‘one size fits all’ approach does not work. (Though it would make life a lot easier!)
Everyone agrees on the basic mechanism of voicing. We have a power source (the breath), the source of sound (the vocal cords) and the vocal filter and amplifier (the vocal tract). Adding to the complexities are the way people learn and interpret information, their mental health wellbeing, their general physical wellbeing and how their day-to-day interactions with family, friends, workers, and people affect them. So, a much more wholistic approach is needed to best serve a student’s individual needs.
Therefore, I was drawn to complete a further qualification in 2021 as a Vocal Habilitation Professional.
This allows me to focus on the Bio-psycho-social model of treating a person in the studio.
Along with the most up to date, evidence-based techniques, some Bel Canto philosophies and functional exercises that I offer, will enable me to help you realign, build and strengthen body, mind and voice. We’ll healthily maintain the voice for optimal function - help increase vocal efficiency, decrease fatigue, reduce potential injuries and restrengthen the voice after illness or trauma. We can create a more resonant, flexible, free and easy tone which will give you longevity, confidence, and a way to authentically express your true inner self. I want to share my passion with you and the joy that singing brings.
